Alain Voortman - Project Engineer Design Engineering
I started my career at Power-Packer 5 years ago as a Project Engineer. As a part of the Design Engineering team I play a role in the design and development of customer specific actuation systems.
There are a couple of reasons that make Power-Packer an interesting career option for an Engineer, like me. Our developments process starts in the concept phase with prototype development and ends when the product is ready for transfer into serial production. The site in Oldenzaal includes a Production facility so you can actually see and feel what you are working on. We have an interesting and demanding customer base that requires us to create products that meet the highest (quality) standards. As an example I would like to mention the Koenigsegg platform in which we contribute, one of the most prestige, expensive and hand built (hybrid) super sports cars in the world. Koenigsegg has posted a movie on YouTube where all functions, except for the hi-speed aerodynamics functions (ride height and front flaps) are demonstrated.
I have learned a lot at Power-Packer because from day one I was fully involved in the projects that I was working on. Next to a role in Design Engineering there are other areas you can grow into as an Engineer. We have a group of our Engineers focused on continuous improvement and resolving complex quality issues for released products and related manufacturing processes. Other Engineers have the task to develop new concepts and technologies that will form the basis for future solutions we provide to our customers.
